Arduino Ethernet with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Module Overview

IMPORTANT NOTE:

There have been reports that this board does not work consistently with some FTDI based USB to Serial Converters. We are working with Arduino to identify the root cause of the problem, but in the meantime it is highly recommended that you order the Arduino USB to Serial Converter in order to be able reliably program this board. The Arduino USB to Serial Converter is available on Amazon under ASIN B005G89KT8.

The Arduino Ethernet is a microcontroller board based on the Arduino Uno incorporating a WizNet W5100 TCP/IP Embedded Ethernet Controller. It can be programmed like an Uno via a six-pin serial connector. The Arduino USB-to-Serial adapter can be used to program it.

A separate power-over-Ethernet (PoE) module is soldered to the board to provide power from a conventional twisted pair Category 5 Ethernet cable. It is IEEE802.3af compliant, and works with all compliant PoE injectors currently available.
